As the third generation of a typical West Flemish company, I am facing significant challenges. We have deliberately chosen to build a DEZEURE 2.0 in order to create a sustainable, future-oriented business and brand that can continue to exist even without family ties. As a graduated engineer, I have always had a wide range of interests, which makes me more of a globalist than an expert. Therefore, I consciously decided not to pursue a further career as a design engineer; my intrinsic interest lies in finding business-level solutions. Perseverance characterizes me, and giving up is not in my vocabulary. However, I have had to learn the term "you win some, you lose some" as an entrepreneur. It is simply part of the journey, but when viewed differently, these experiences provide valuable lessons. Today, we are at a pivotal moment. My parents successfully built the pioneering phase of Greiner’s growth model, and I am genuinely proud and thankful of that. However, we are currently in the management phase and the decentralization phase of this model, necessitating a reorientation. Currently, we have four owners and six board members. No one holds overall leadership, and as the model highlights, it is unclear who is responsible for what. This is not a healthy foundation for further developing the future; the organization needs to be further professionalized. Therefore, I am putting myself forward as a candidate for an EMBA. Currently, Mr. Nicholas De Schuyter is on our board of directors and is guiding us through this transformation process. However, it is up to us to lead the company for the long term. He is willing to pass the baton, but this requires knowledge and insight, which is precisely the added value that the EMBA can provide for both myself and our organization.
