I have work experience as a legal advisor and mediator in civil, family, and notarial law. My master thesis was devoted to studying the right to defend human rights in Colombia, titled ‘The recognition of the right to defend human rights under the doctrine of the innominate rights in Colombia and its safeguards in the Inter-American System for the protection of human rights. My LLM programme was focused on European Law, EU external relations, policies and strategies. I am also a volunteer at Catapa vzw (located in Belgium), an NGO dedicated to denouncing the impact of mining projects in the Global South, promoting the right of indigenous communities, social leaders, and human rights defenders to say no to mining projects in their lands, conducting legal research on the implementation of Escazu Agreement in Colombia and Latin America. I am highly motivated to follow a career in human rights, working for the elimination of human rights violations in Colombia through international cooperation to prioritize human rights in all spheres.
