I am Kato, a recent graduate in Medicine with a passion for exploring diverse interests and pursuits. Following my high school education, I faced a difficult decision between pursuing a path in arts or delving into the field of medicine, two vastly different domains. I think this example of the contrasting choice between art and medicine best encapsulates who I am as a person. I have a wide range of interests and enjoy exploring diverse paths in life. Since I love challenges, the main reason I opted for medicine is its intriguing and unpredictable nature. Medicine often feels like solving a complex puzzle, presenting new challenges every day. While art provides me with relaxation, medicine sparks my curiosity and offers an adventure of exploration. My fascination with the intricacies of the human brain and my affinity for working with children illuminate potential directions for my professional journey. Outside of academia, you'll find me immersed in creating art or embarking on adventures in the mountains, activities that rejuvenate my spirit and fuel my creativity. My defining traits include resilience and ambition.

At the age of 15, I began working at a restaurant in my hometown. When I moved to Maastricht for my studies, I started working at Ginger, a Chinese restaurant. Both jobs gave me the opportunity to develop a lot of new skills:
I have been a leader at the local youth movement for several years. There I have learned to:
During my second year of bachelor's studies, I completed a 4-week internship in the Urology department. This experience provided valuable insights into the role of a physician and enriched my skills and knowledge. Additionally, I had the opportunity to witness a groundbreaking moment when a television crew filmed a world-first 3D hydrogel prototype developed by doctor Koen van Renterghem in collaboration with a university from New York. It was during this moment I realized the significance of conducting research as an integral part of being a doctor, and I came to understand that the field of medicine never stands still.
